Remains of having removed the pine tree from the corner of our lot. The birds are missing it, but it will soon be replaced with a lovely dogwood.

Timber!!

Last weekend, February 19 and 20, we took a pine tree down that was in the SouthEast corner of our lot. It provided nice shade during the summer months but continued to shade us through the winter months as well. Also, it had the nasty habbit of dropping herbicidal sap, killing all but the hardiest of plants beneath it. Now our yard is better lit, but looks a bit barren. We will replace the pine tree with a dogwood, which we are told will put up with the toxic soil left by the pine.

On a different note. On Thursday I swam my first lap (two half lengths) with no fins and without stopping! This is a major milestone for me and makes me think I might actually swim one day.

Yesterday we went to the friends of the library sale and spent $43 even though the books were only $.50 to $1 a piece. Woh!! We also watched an OSU polo match against WSU. (Wish I had taken the camera.)
